Some Cakes are just…Special

I designed this cake for my good friend Claire and her blushing bride Carrie. I do my best work when I have complete creative license. Inspired by my roadtrip to Colorado with Claire and this couple’s love of the outdoors, I worked on this cake for weeks!

Each flower and leaf hand-crafted from sugarpaste and birch painted fondant covers a gorgeous yellow cake with dark chocolate buttercream.

I couldn’t let this cake sit on just any basic cake board so I set out to find the perfect solution. Designer Jason Dakis of Goebel & Co. Furniture scored this stunning “scrap” of wood and polished it up for me into a cherished piece. The photos just don’t do it justice. I can’t wait for another opportunity to use this.

It was a perfect day for a perfect couple. Cheers to many more years of togetherness!
